The Great Cat Conspiracy
by Katy Davies (Author)
Hannah Shaw (Illustrator)
Ace detectives Anna, her little brother Tom and best friend Suzanne are back, and this time they are faced with a feline caper. In fact… a lot of feline capers. All of the neighbourhood cats have disappeared. Anna’s cat (known as simply ‘The New Cat’) has caused the family endless upset but when he goes missing the children are determined to track him down. Their investigations lead them to the home of the Cat Lady, an eccentric old woman who lives in complete squalor with several cats and a maid called Polly…
Shaw's makes fantastic use of dialogue and her characters, both child and adult, are doubtlessly believable. It is impossible not to laugh out loud while The Great Cat Conspiracy and Davies’ illustrations, dictionary definitions and letters give an extra dimension to an already lively text. Hugely entertaining and very cleverly written.
