Getting to know Maurice Sendak

Across the world readers, artists, authors, designers, teachers, librarians, booksellers and pretty much anyone who has ever read or been influenced by Maurice Sendak (or even influenced by someone who else has been influenced by him) are coming to terms with the loss.

I dug out Carol Malone's Inis feature on Sendak to read more about the man who changed the shape of making books for children - it's dated 2003 and misisng updates on Where the Wild Things Are, the collaborations with Jones and Eggers, his later interviews, the moving personal statements after his partners death and the publication of Bumble-Ardy... but it is captures much of his career, his influences and his success.

Something you should read - catch the full feature here.
