‘So, when do you think you’ll write for grown ups?’
It’s a question that most authors for children and young adults are asked at some point. I’ve seen it crop up on Twitter and Facebook and have discussed it in person with other authors I’ve met. Occasionally, it’s accompanied by the phrase ‘proper book’, though those words aren’t necessary to understand that what’s being implied is that writing for young people is a practice run until you are good enough to write for adults.

Hervé Tullet is a favourite in the office… and since reading his books we are regularly found doodling, pressing pages or just scribbling idly in a corner. Finding the iOS app has had a broader release was pretty exciting. (The original release in France/Belgium last year and getting to play with it in Bologna were pretty teasing… and has led to some of us waiting by the App Store ever since)
